What is Summer Reading?
The Weston Public Library Summer Reading Program exists to provide a fun way for our community to connect with the library and each other by logging reading, attending events, and participating in challenges over the summer!
Who can participate in Summer Reading?
Our Summer Reading Program is for all ages, so absolutely anyone can participate! However, challenges are split up by age groups and certain events throughout the summer may be limited to more specific ranges in age.
How can I participate in Summer Reading?
You can begin your participation in the Summer Reading Challenge by registering in one of two ways:
- You can download the Beanstack app, or visit the Beanstack website to register for online logging and participation.
- You can pick up a paper form at library checkout beginning June 23rd.
What do I need to do next?!
After registering we ask that you simply log the minutes that you’re already spending reading and participate in further challenges of your choice!
The benefits of logging and participating in our program include receiving a Weston Public Library tote bag and earning supplies to customize your bag with throughout the summer. Not interested in this? No problem! You will also earn raffle tickets towards end of the summer prizes of your choice. Not to mention awards that will be announced during our wrap up event on the 18th of August.
Tell me more!
Readers will earn their own choice of “swag” for every 120 minutes logged reading. That is less than twenty minutes a day of reading to earn something new every week! Every 120 minutes also comes with a raffle ticket towards your choice of end of summer prize. Challenges earn raffle tickets upon completion. Challenges vary from things like “perform a random act of kindness” to telling us about a series of books that you’ve completed.
Where can I pick up my stuff?
Raffle tickets and “swag” pickup happen physically at the library check out desk, so don’t forget to stop by to fill out your tickets and choose which prizes you would like them to be entered towards.
What kind of “swag” are we talking?
Swag includes keychains, enamel pins, buttons, patches, stickers and more! We hope to have something for everyone. This can also be a fun way for younger participants to customize backpacks for the upcoming school year.
Stop by the library on June 23rd for out kickoff event to check out our selection of grand prizes!
